SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — After nearly a month of rumors and speculation, fans are reacting to the official rebranding of the Springfield Cardinals, now known as the Ozarks Springbirds.
“I think that it’s really nice. The Springbirds really sounds cool!” expressed the Dalton family.
The team says the decision to rebrand was about making the Ozarks Springbirds stand alone and represent the entire fanbase across southwest Missouri.
“I think it’s really good, because it really stands out to the community.” said the Daltons, “It helps people know the Ozarks better.”
Robert Cook, a lifelong fan who buys season tickets every year, tells Ozarks First he welcomes the rebranding, and believes most fans will too.
“Love it, love it.” Stated Cook, “They’re going to wrap around it. The Ozarks Springbirds; It’s catchy.”
For him and his family, the Cardinals are more than just a team, it’s a community.
“It brings people together.” He said, “We had our 55th surprise birthday party there at the home rundown.”
Their first game as the Ozarks Springbirds will be Friday, April 2. The club will still continue to be the AA affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
