The Steelers aren’t quite surging at this point in the NFL season. Aaron Rodgers is, though.
The Pittsburgh hurler is undoubtedly one of the NFL’s greatest-ever performers. His numbers haven’t quite reflected that reputation in recent campaigns — an understandable, but regrettable part of his aging curve.
Rodgers’ figures have sank precipitously compared to his prime. But in 2026, his performances have shown signs of life, especially when compared to his displays in non-Packers attire.
With that, here’s a look at the numbers behind Rodgers’ latest career resurgence.

Three Stats That Show Aaron Rodgers Is Having Best Non-Packers Season of Career
The raw metrics behind Rodgers’ post-Packers career look far less glitzy than the ones he produced while draped in Green Bay colors. That’s not to say he hasn’t performed admirably — 40-somethings have rarely authored up the figures Rodgers has in recent years.
Nevertheless, his waning athletic gifts have been noticeable. Rodgers is effectively a statue in the pocket, rarely producing fireworks in the open field. His interception rate — once a source of delight among masses of Packers supporters has leapt to 2.2% in 2026, one of the highest marks of his career.
And yet, there’s reason to believe Rodgers is enjoying his best season since departing Green Bay. Here are three numbers that prove why that’s the case.
17
Rodgers has completed 17 passes of more than 20 yards thus far this season. That puts him in rarefied. That’s the joint-fifth-best mark in the league, level with Jared Goff and Bryce Young and higher than Drake Maye, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.
Some of those tosses have been of the check down variety — Jaylen Warren turned a screen pass into an 80-yard score in Week 5.
Others have not; Rodgers found the end zone with a pair of passes that eclipsed 20 or more air yards in Pittsburgh’s loss to the Bengals in Week 3.
246.8
After drawing the ire of some onlookers with a more conservative approach to throwing the football in his maiden season with Pittsburgh, Rodgers appears to have turned back the clock slightly. He’s averaging 246.8 yards per game. He sits just outside of the top-10 in that metric, posting better figures than Josh Allen in the category.
Rodgers has shown a willingness to air the out early and often thus far in the Steelers season. While he hasn’t been able to recreate the yardage-laden campaigns of his youth at Green Bay, his 246.8-yardage mark is by far the highest he has put forth since he left the Cheeseheads.

Rodgers’ resurgence is best illustrated in his recent run of performances. The 42-year-old has rattled off a string of three-straight three-touchdown performances. ESPN’s Field Yates noted that Rodgers hasn’t accomplished that feat since Dec. 2021, a campaign that ended with the then-Green Bay passer hoisting the MVP prize.
Rodgers might not have the liveliness in his arm that he once possessed. His recent outings would indicate that his diminishing gifts haven’t prevented him from pushing his team down the field — and helping it dance into the end zone.
