‘There’s see finish in London, America’ — Davido tells Nigerian artistes to prioritize home shows

Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has expressed concern over a shift in international demand for Nigerian artistes, advising industry veterans to prioritize performing back home.

The singer spoke during an interview session on The Uncut Podcast.

Reflecting on the changing music landscape in the United Kingdom and the United States, Davido noted that international markets are beginning to experience a level of familiarity with Nigerian acts.

He stated that he hopes to see the industry’s major acts return home in the coming years, citing a decline in the overseas market’s drawing power compared to previous years.

“In the next 10 years I want the music OGs to come back to Nigeria. There is already ‘see finish’ in London, America, honestly,” he said.

Comparing current trends to past years, the singer pointed out a noticeable drop in the number of artistes capable of independently selling out major foreign venues.

“Three years ago at least 20 artists can come to London and do show and get sold out, but now I can count maybe 4 or 5 and we all know them. We can all see the shift,” Davido stated.
