Star Trek: Legacy may not have made it out of spacedock, but there’s an on-screen Star Trek reunion in the works that may be the next best thing. It’s all thanks to Michael Dorn, alias Worf from The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Picard, who’s making his feature directorial debut with a new science-fiction movie that boasts a Star Trek-studded cast.
The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard ended as a potential launch point for Star Trek: Legacy, a new Trek series that would have followed the adventures of the newly christened USS Enterprise-G. Ex-Borg drone and Voyager star Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) was on board as captain, as was Picard castmate Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd) and Starfleet nepo babies Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) and Sidney La Forge (Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut). However, thanks to Paramount’s subsequent corporate upheaval that saw it merge with Skydance and then Warner Bros., all future Star Trek projects ended up in the Neutral Zone.
Deadline reports that Dorn is writing, directing, and starring in the science fiction thriller Life 2.0. While it’s his first feature, it won’t be Dorn’s first turn in the director’s chair: he helmed three episodes of Deep Space Nine and one episode of Enterprise. Even more impressively, as he also starred as Worf in the DS9 episodes, he directed much of them while wearing full Klingon makeup and prosthetics. The film will star Dorn as a skilled operative stranded in deep space with only a holographic AI for company; when he’s joined by a mysterious companion, everything will come into question. Joining Dorn are a trio of Trek stars: Hurd, Marina Sirtis, and Dominic Keating. The film is set to be shopped to potential buyers by OneTwoThree Media at the upcoming American Film Market.
- The Wachowskis’ 1999 film won four Academy Awards, including Visual Effects and Film

recovering from neck surgery the whole time. - It opened the same year as Fight Club and eXistenZ, in a run of films about not trusting the
world in front of you.
- Mad Max: Fury Road won six Academy Awards in 2016, more than any other film that year.
- George Miller storyboarded the entire film as roughly 3,500 panels before there was a
script. - The chase was shot almost entirely practical in the Namib Desert, with real vehicles and
real stunt performers. - Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth carried the prequel, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, in 2024.
- Blade Runner 2049 won Roger Deakins his first Oscar for cinematography, on his fourteenth
nomination. - The film also took Best Visual Effects, 35 years after Ridley Scott’s 1982 original.
- Villeneuve shot it on large-format film and kept the fog and rain practical on set wherever
he could. - Three short films by Luke Scott and Shinichiro Watanabe bridge the 30-year gap between the
two movies.
- Denis Villeneuve’s Dune won six Academy Awards in 2022, including Cinematography and
Original Score. - Hans Zimmer turned down Christopher Nolan’s Tenet so he could score Dune instead.
- Dune: Part Two arrived in 2024 and brought in Austin Butler, Florence Pugh and Christopher
Walken. - David Lynch’s 1984 version and Alejandro Jodorowsky’s unmade one are both their
own legends by now.
- The 1977 original won six Academy Awards plus a special achievement award for sound effects.
- John Williams’ score was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra and became the
best-selling symphonic film soundtrack ever. - Andor took the galaxy somewhere colder and earned Emmy nominations for drama series in both
seasons. - The saga now runs across eleven feature films and a growing shelf of series on Disney+.

Dorn played Worf, the first Klingon to join Starfleet; a member of the bridge crew on The Next Generation, he later transferred to Deep Space Nine, and reunited with his Next Generation castmates on Picard. Those castmates include Sirtis as empathic Betazoid ship’s counselor Deanna Troi. Hurd played Raffi Musiker, a former member of Jean-Luc Picard’s staff; she returned to service to aid him in Season 1 of Picard, and became one of the only cast members to appear in all three seasons. Meanwhile, Keating starred as Malcolm Reed, tactical officer on the NX-01 Enterprise, for all four seasons of the prequel series Enterprise.
Life 2.0 is in post-production, and will be shopped to potential buyers at the upcoming American Film Market. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
