Not only is this a battle of in-state rivals, but it’s also a rematch of last year’s finals, which the Longhorns won in three games. Texas beat Texas Tech 2-1 in Game 1 in 2025, before the Red Raiders bounced back with a 4-3 win in Game 2. The decisive final game was all Texas, as it won 10-4.
If Texas is to win back-to-back championships, it will have to go through NiJaree Canady, the two-time national pitcher of the year, who is the presumptive starter for Game 2. Texas Tech has depended on her the entire season.
Texas Tech coach Gerry Glasco took Canady out of Wednesday’s game after she faced six batters in relief in the first and second innings.
