The Texas Longhorns dropped from No. 1 to No. 7 after suffering a 27-24 Week 6 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry. While it’s the first loss of the season for the program, concerns continue to swirl around quarterback Arch Manning and his ability to play the position at a high level.

After Saturday’s contest, Tyler Horka of Inside Texas (an affiliate of On3 Sports) went into depth about how poorly the Longhorns offense plays when they don’t have a scoring drive. Statistically speaking, Horka claims the offense is a complete “train wreck” if a drive ends without points, which isn’t a great look for the redshirt junior.

“If it’s not a scoring drive for Texas, it’s a complete train wreck,” Horka said on X. “No in-between. The least consistent offense in the country.”

Horka also blasted Manning for his two fourth-quarter interceptions that gave Oklahoma all of the gas it needed to pull off the upset. The 22-year-old signal caller threw his first career pick-six early in the fourth, then threw another interception with under 25 seconds remaining in the game, with the score tied 24-24. The Sooners took advantage of it and secured the win with a game-winning field goal.

Texas insider highlights ‘train wreck’ thatArch Manning has been deemed an NFL Draft darling throughout his collegiate career. However, his play on the field has not quite lived up to the hype. He flashed potential near the end of last season, but this year it seems things just aren’t clicking. Through five games this season, Manning has recorded 1,122 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions while completing 63.0% of his pass attempts.

And really, the only time he’s looked the part as a top quarterback in the nation was in the second half of Texas’ 24-23 comeback win over the Ohio State Buckeyes in Week 2. It’s about the midway point of the campaign, and now is the time for Manning to turn things around if the Longhorns hope to make a deep playoff run.

But things won’t get any easier moving forward. Texas has several marquee matchups remaining on the schedule, including the Florida Gators, No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels, No. 16 Mississippi State Bulldogs, No. 13 Missouri Tigers, No. 22 LSU Tigers, and the Texas A&M Aggies.
