While Texas high school football games were played last week, many of the state’s top programs had the week off.
Now that they’re back, there’s no shortage of must-see matchups as we enter the first full week of October. One game in particular has huge stakes for the state’s ranking, as the No. 2 team takes on the No. 3 team, with USA TODAY Sports Super 15 Southwest Region implications.
Here are our updated rankings for the top 10 high school football teams in Texas.

Any doubts about where Waxahachie stood entering the year as one of Texas’ top teams were quickly answered just a few weeks into the season. The last two weeks in particular, they’ve been at their best, scoring 63 points and 61 points before their off week. South Carolina quarterback commit and Super 25 Playmaker of the Week, Jerry Meyer III, has been efficient, completing 70% of his passes for 1,421 yards and 16 touchdowns with only two interceptions.

Record: 4-0
Next game: Friday, Oct. 9, at Iowa County (TX), 7 p.m. CT
Randle’s last three wins feel more like a video game than real life, as they’re averaging 79.3 points per game during that stretch. Texas five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis has been a big reason for those blowout wins, rushing for 796 yards and 15 touchdowns in those three games.

Since their loss to Waxahachie on September 10, the Wildcats have turned a corner and dominated their last two wins. The woes that plagued the Dragons in losses to Duncanville and Allen appear to be a thing of the past. They’ve won back-to-back games thanks in large part to a new start in the ground game. Dez Bryant Jr., the son of former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro receiver Dez Bryant, has rushed for 205 yards and four touchdowns in their last two games.
