Texas A&M's 2027 recruiting cycle now unanimously ranked No. 1

Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is on track to finish No. 1 among all the major outlets, as third-year coach Mike Elko and his staff have assembled an elite group of blue-chip prospects, including a nation-high 5 five-star commits among the program’s 20 commits. Heading into the weekend, the Aggies are set to host another long list of current commits and priority prospects, including five-star running back Landon Williams-Callis.

Elko’s ability to match former head coach Jimbo Fisher’s recruiting success was one of the primary questions after he was hired back in late Nov., 2024, spending two seasons leading the Duke Blue Devils to new heights while helping develop several future NFL players in the process. Still, it’s important to note that during his tenure as Texas A&M’s defensive coordinator, Elko helped shape the Aggies’ 2022 historic recruiting class.

Elko’s ability to connect with prospects at every position, selling his future outlook for the program, and assembling a coaching staff, especially S&C coach Tommy Moffitt, has resulted in reaching unanimous No. 1 status in the 2027 cycle, while several of A&M’s 20 commitments, including five-star safety Kamauri Dorsey, have shut down their recruitment.

This offseason, Elko has gained more national respect, rising to No. 11 in Sporting News’ latest college football head coach rankings, and after leading the Aggies to the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history, Texas A&M is slowly but surely becoming a national title contender, especially if the recruiting success continues to result in on-field success.
