Texas A&M junior ranked as a top SEC catcher in 2026 MLB Draft

Texas A&M’s 2026 college baseball season wasn’t a massive success by any means, but it was a step in the right direction for second-year head coach texas-ms-103033967.html" rel="">Michael Earley, who led the Aggies back to the NCAA Tournament after missing the postseason during his inaugural season at the helm.

Led by star juniors Gavin Grahovac and Caden Sorrell, who combined for 45 of the program’s 120 home runs on the year, junior catcher Bear Harrison served as a vital piece of the lineup and behind the plate, and will be one of several players Earley will look to retain going into next season.

The former Saint Mary’s transfer improved as a hitter, finishing fifth on the team with a .294 average, 45 hits, 11 home runs, and 34 RBI, while he set the all-time hit by pitch record with 22 before the Aggies were eliminated in the College Station Regional by the red-hot USC Trojans. One of the larger players on the roster, at 6’3″ and 230 pounds, Harrison is now considered an MLB prospect, but should consider returning one more season.

According to D1Baseball, Harrison is now the 114th-ranked catcher prospect in the SEC entering the summer, which is a sign that one more season in college would potentially bolster his standing as a high-round draft selection, especially after his impressive 2026 season.

Finding a reliable catcher in the SEC is never an easy task, and while Harrison’s future with the program was in peril after the 2025 season, the California native deserves praise for his consistent play and leadership in the locker room.
