Texas A&M baseball lands commitment from talented 2027 pitcher

Texas A&M baseball has landed another talented arm, securing a commitment from one of the nation’s top high school prospects.

Striker Pence, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound right-handed pitcher from Santiago High School in Corona, California, announced his commitment to the Aggies on Saturday. The prospect recently reclassified from the 2028 recruiting class to 2027.

According to Perfect Game, Pence is ranked among the nation’s top prospects in his class and has thrown 101 mph. His impressive velocity is only part of what makes him an intriguing addition to Texas A&M‘s recruiting class.

Pence has two-way potential, and scouts recognize his ability to contribute offensively. His combination of size, arm strength and power at the plate makes him an interesting prospect in the 2027 class. Baseball fans might also recognize his last name. Pence is the nephew of former MLB outfielder Hunter Pence, a four-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion with the San Francisco Giants.

Pence has attracted attention from professional scouts. His arsenal includes a fastball that regularly reaches the upper 90s, plus a slider and a developing changeup.

However, Pence may never make it to College Station. With his fastball reaching 101 mph and his stock rising among professional scouts, he could become an attractive prospect in the 2027 MLB Draft. If selected early enough and offered a significant signing bonus, Pence could choose professional baseball over his commitment to Texas A&M.

For now, the Aggies have secured a commitment from one of the country’s most intriguing arms, but whether Pence eventually takes the mound at Olsen Field remains to be seen.
