Tennessee baseball lands Keelan Zumwalt, top-20 prospect in class of 2028

Tennessee baseball landed one of the top prospects in the class of 2028 when Keelan Zumwalt committed to the Vols on Sept. 25.

Zumwalt, an outfielder and first baseman from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, is ranked by Perfect Game as the No. 17 overall player in his class. He is ranked as the best first baseman and top overall player in Missouri.

Zumwalt announced his decision in an Instagram post. “I am very excited to announce my commitment to the University of Tennessee,” Zumwalt wrote. “I’d like to first thank God for I would not be here without my lord and savior Jesus Christ. I’d also like to thank my family for supporting me throughout this journey. I’m very excited to continue my academic and athletic career at UT.”

Zumwalt visited Tennessee last weekend as the football team played Kennesaw State and picked the Vols over Georgia. He is the third class of 2028 player to commit to the Vols that visited that weekend, joining right-handed pitchers Mason Little and Trigg Listerman.

Catcher Logan Arnett was the first player to join coach Josh Elander’s 2028 recruiting class.

Zumwalt is listed at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds and attends Summit Christian Academy in his hometown of Lee’s Summit. Baseball America ranked him as the No. 44 high school prospect for the 2028 MLB Draft.
