IFL playoffs: Sugar Skulls vs. Strike Force

New Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tarik Skubal created a grand entrance.

Acquired from the Detroit Tigers on Saturday night for three prospects, Skubal showed up in the Dodgers‘ dugout during the third inning of the Dodgers’ matchup against the visiting Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.

The back-to-back AL Cy Young award winner was immediately greeted by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who had time during a pitching change to embrace Skubal. They chatted for about a minute before Roberts had to get back to work.

Skubal proceeded to walk down the dugout, introducing himself to his new teammates.

Skubal (7-5), who is scheduled to make his Dodgers debut Tuesday at the Chicago Cubs, joins a stacked rotation that entered Sunday with the league’s best WHIP (1.14) and ranked fourth in ERA (3.60).

The salaries of the Dodgers’ top six starters, Skubal, Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Edwin Diaz and Yoshinobu Yamamoto would create the league’s 18th-highest team payroll.

Four of the Dodgers’ starters had sub-3.00 ERAs, Ohtani (1.79), Skubal (2.79), Yamamoto (2.79) and Justin Wrobleski (2.88).

Did Skubal introduce himself as part of what could prove to be the best rotation in MLB history?
