The Detroit Lions (4-2) are back at home on Sunday for a massive Week 8 date against the NFL’s lone remaining unbeaten and the current NFC North leader in the Minnesota Vikings (6-0).
For the first time this season, Detroit has won consecutive games. The Lions walked off the Packers last week, 20-17, thanks to a 22-yard Jake Bates field goal. Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw for 303 yards and a pair of touchdowns to Jameson Williams.
Amon-Ra St. Brown led Detroit with 153 receiving yards on nine grabs, and Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs totaled 116 yards on 29 carries.
Minnesota rallied past the Indianapolis Colts last week, 16-10. Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray completed 14 of 24 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown pass to T.J. Hockenson.

3 stats to know
- Lions quarterback Jared Goff is still perfect in 2026. Though he certainly got away with a few in the Lions’ win against the Packers, Goff has thrown for 1,788 yards and 14 touchdowns with no interceptions. It’s the first time since 1933 that the Lions have not thrown an interception in their first six games. They are only the 10th team in league history that can say that.
- Detroit allowed just five Green Bay pressures on Goff last week. Goff has been sacked just 12 times, which ranks in the top 10 fewest among all 32 teams. Improving the offensive line was a point of emphasis in the offseason, and Detroit appears to have shored things up along its O-line. Keeping Goff clean is imperative in order to get the best version of Goff. Detroit has been able to do that.
- The Vikings’ blitz rate against the Colts was 85.2%. It’s the highest blitz rate of the NextGen Stats era. Minnesota has a blitz rate of 70.4% though their first six games. The Lions’ retooled offensive line and their running backs are going to be tested early and often in pass pro throughout Sunday’s matchup.
