Liverpool welcomed Atletico Madrid at Anfield earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a win at home in the UEFA Champions League. The Reds made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 17th minute when Marcos Llorente scored for the visitors. However, Dominik Szoboszlai equalised for the home team in the 40th minute with a good finish as the two sides went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.
Alexis Mac Allister scored the winning goal for Andoni Iraola’s men with a great strike in the 50th minute. The contest finished with Liverpool securing a hard-fought 2-1 win in front of their home fans.
Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player fared during the clash against Atletico Madrid.
GK: Alisson Becker – 7/10
The Brazilian keeper made a few solid saves at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet.
RB: Ronald Araujo – 7/10
He performed his defensive duties well and picked up a great assist for setting up Szoboszlai’s goal.
CB: Jeremy Jacquet – 7/10
Jacquet cleared the danger when needed and was a rock at the back.
CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 6.5/10
He should have done better to prevent Llorente’s goal, but recovered well and put in a solid display in the second half.

LB: Milos Kerkez – 7/10
He was full of energy and running on the left flank.
CM: Dominik Szoboszlai – 8.5/10
Szoboszlai created a lot of good chances for others around him and managed to score the opener in the 40th minute with a clever finish.
CM: Alexis Mac Allister – 7.5/10
He anchored the midfield well and managed to score in the 68th minute.
RW: Bradley Barcola – 6/10
Barcola missed a great chance to score at the Kop End. He picked up an injury and had to be replaced in the 59th minute.
CAM: Florian Wirtz – 7/10
He made a few decent chances for his teammates to score, but failed to threaten the opponent’s goal himself.
LW: Rio Ngumoha – 7/10
Ngumoha made two good runs with the ball, but there was no goal for him.
ST: Alexander Isak – 7/10
He linked up play well with others around him and has an assist to show for his efforts.
LW: Victor Munoz – 6/10
Munoz was always willing to get on the ball but struggled to be a threat up top.
RW: Jeremy Frimpong – 6/10
He used his pace well to track back when needed.
