As one of the Spurs‘ most important players, Stephon Castle has garnered plenty of headlines during his first postseason run.

During Friday night’s Game 2 vs. the Knicks, he added another — albeit for the wrong reasons.

Castle was felled by an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of the contest. His malady left him on the sideline for much of the game’s crescendo.

Stephon Castle injury update

Castle fell to the ground partway through the fourth after landing awkwardly on Mikal Bridges’ leg while attempting to draw a foul on a shot attempt.

Castle limped down the floor after the ball caromed off the rim. Head coach Mitch Johnson called a timeout after the possession concluded.

When the Spurs returned to the floor after the break, Castle remained on the bench.

What happened to Stephon Castle?

Castle crumbled to the floor after landing awkwardly on Mikal Bridges’ foot with 6:45 left in the fourth quarter.

Castle’s shot missed its target, eventually landing in Miles McBride’s grasp for a New York three-pointer. San Antonio was forced to burn a timeout as Castle ambled down the floor. He was summarily removed from the contest in favor De’Aaron Fox.
