Stardew Valley 1.7 Gets Official Release Date Update, Is Game's Largest Update Yet

Stardew Valley really is one of those evergreen games that continues to bring in thousands of players each evening, all of whom are looking to unwind in their own little slice of paradise(ish). Originally created by just one person, Eric Barone, known to many as ConcernedApe, the game became spectacularly popular, and it continues to have one of the most dedicated audiences around.

As such, it was huge news when it was confirmed that the game was getting a 1.7 update, particularly after many had assumed that the creator’s attention had largely turned to his next game, Haunted Chocolatier. Now, we finally have an update on when we can expect to see the 1.7 update, and it might be considerably bigger than we were first expecting.

In case you aren’t familiar with the situation up to this point, Eric Barone confirmed that he was working on a 1.7 update for the game, after many thought that 1.6 could be where it all ended. That was all the way back in August 2025, and things have been quite quiet on that front since, though the developer’s track record means the gathered audience wasn’t too worried.

As first reported by Gamesradar+, Barone shared some more information on the now-fabled 1.7 update, including giving us a better idea of its scope, and when it might be live in the game.

“We’re working on the 1.7 update, which is looking to be the largest Stardew Valley update ever,” he says. “It’s jam-packed. Clint and Sandy [new potential partners] are just the tip of the iceberg – there’s so much more in the update. You guys are in for a real treat, and it’ll probably come out some time next year.”

Given that we’re less than two months away from next year, that’s very exciting news, and it should come as quite a relief to those who are waiting in the wings. At the same time, the news that it’s potentially the biggest update ever is actually quite monumental, considering 1.5 and 1.6 brought us everything from new regions to fun festivals and additional characters.

The revelations come after Barone took to the stage at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado for a recent Stardew Valley Symphony of Seasons concert. There he gave a comprehensive speech which touched on the coming update a little, and it seems these live events have become his favorite format for sharing news of this ilk.

The only real caveat is that “some time next year” doesn’t actually narrow it down too much, though we can likely infer that it will probably come at some point after the first few months of 2027, given how vague he is being right now. In any case, this is probably one more update than many Stardew Valley fans were ever expecting to get, so let’s just hope it has everything we need to carry us through the boredom until the arrival of Haunted Chocolatier, whenever that might be.
