Georgia football is back on top of the mountain after a dominant 27-8 win over Florida. Yahoo Sports reported the Bulldogs now sit at No. 2 in the AP poll, just behind unbeaten Miami. This is not a fluke. The team has good wins against Florida, Oklahoma, and Alabama. You want a true champion? Look at the Bulldogs. They are the team that actually wins the big games when it counts.

The ranking jump in makes sense because the competition stumbled. Before Week 9, Ohio State sat at No. 2 but fell nine places after losing to USC. That opened the door. Georgia has lingered in the top 10 all season, but this win solidifies their place. They are 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the SEC. The loss to Auburn two weeks ago is gone. Tin the pastare on a new streak now.

Miami Holds The Top Spot But Has Weaknesses

Miami Hurricanes stay at No. 1 after a 38-35 comeback win over North Carolina. According to Yahoo Sports, only three teams remain perfect as November approaches. They are 8-0. But look closer at the resume. They looked human in beating Florida State. They had to mount a fourth-quarter comeback to sneak past North Carolina. A team that struggles this much against weaker opponents does not belong at the very top.

Georgia has a much stronger case for the number one spot. The Bulldogs have beaten Alabama and Florida. Those are the kind of wins that matter. Miami has a win against Wake Forest and five wins against Power Four competition. The impression of their schedule changes after they take on Notre Dame. Until then, their argument is thin. Georgia has shown they can dominate every win except against the Crimson Tide. That is a better resume than a perfect record built on close calls.

The Real Test Arrives Saturday Night

On Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET, Georgia will play Ole Miss in an SEC matchup. Ole Miss enters the contest 6-2 and ranked 12th. This is not a game for the weak. The Rebels are dangerous. If Georgia wins this, the conversation about the top spot changes forever. They have good wins against teams like Oklahoma and Alabama, and adding Ole Miss to that list would seal the deal.

A question mark sits at the very top of the initial College Football Playoff rankings. Who will be No. 1? Per Yahoo Sports, the favorite is Miami, but the argument for Georgia is growing. Had they not lost to Auburn, the Bulldogs would clearly be ranked No. 1. Even so, they are still considered No. 1 thanks to their recent dominance. The numbers speak for themselves. A 27-8 win over a rival is not luck.
