Star Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy leaves LSU game after landing on left shoulder

Ole Miss RB Kewan Lacy went to the locker room with an apparent shoulder injury midway through the third quarter of the No. 8 Rebels’ game against No. 7 LSU.

Lacy landed hard on his left shoulder while getting tackled. That’s the same shoulder he injured in the College Football Playoff a season ago. After the season was over, Lacy had surgery on his left labrum.

The senior had nine carries for 43 yards and a touchdown before he left the game. He was officially deemed questionable to return with what Ole Miss said was an “upper body injury.”

Lacy led the nation with 306 carries in 2025 and was one of just two players to have more than 300 rushing attempts last season. Lacy’s 1,567 yards were third in the country and he finished second to North Texas’ Caleb Hawkins with 24 rushing touchdowns.

After leaving the Tulane game early following 15 carries for 87 yards, Lacy had 22 carries for 98 yards and two scores in the Sugar Bowl win over Georgia and 11 rushes for 103 yards and a score in the Fiesta Bowl loss to Miami.

p style=”text-align:left”>Lacy got so many carries in 2025 because of Ole Miss’ lack of depth behind him. The Rebels added former LSU RB JT Lindsey in the transfer portal during the offseason, and Lindsey entered the game after Lacy’s absence.
