Jul. 21—WHITESTOWN, Ind. — The Southern 12U Stars did a solid job in representing the state of Minnesota over the weekend.
The team, based out of St. Charles, finished in fourth place out of 10 teams at the Little League Softball Central Region Tournament in Whitestown, Ind., over the weekend. The squad finished 2-2, defeating Iowa 1-0 in their first game, before falling to Indiana 8-0. They then rebounded with a 6-4 defeat of Michigan 6-4. Their run came to an end with a 5-0 loss to Missouri, which now plays Kentucky at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday on ESPN for the right to face Indiana in the championship.
It is believed they were the first from Minnesota to play in the tournament.
The championship game is set for 11 a.m. on Wednesday on ESPN. The winner advances to the 2026 Little League Softball World Series on Aug. 2-9 in Greenville, N.C.
