Show Nigerians where regional commission funds will go – APM tells Tinubu

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has asked President Bola Tinubu to disclose how funds meant for the Regional Development Commissions will be spent.

The APM said Nigerians deserved full details before the money was released.

The party made the demand in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar.

“Nigerians deserve to know where the money will go, what projects it will finance and how implementation will be tracked and independently scrutinised,” Abubakar said.

The party expressed concern over the President’s directive for the release of funds to the commissions, arguing that stronger transparency measures should be put in place before the money was disbursed.

It also questioned the timing of the directive, noting that the National Assembly had approved a N1.3 trillion budget for the Regional Development Commissions in March.

The party questioned why the President’s directive was coming just months before the election, despite the National Assembly approving the N1.3 trillion budget for the Regional Development Commissions six months earlier in March.

The APM further alleged that the commissions had become channels for inflated and uncompleted contracts, although it did not provide evidence for the claim.

“We therefore demand that Mr. President make public the allocation to each regional commission, the proposed projects, their locations, the specific amounts, the contractors involved and due diligence certification before any money is released,” Abubakar said.
