The WNBA Finals are headed to Game 7 for the first time. It took quite an effort from the Dream to make that happen.
The Valkyries raced out to a 3-2 series lead off the back of strong defensive showings. They hoped to settle things for good in Game 6, only to be set back by a barrage of Atlanta triples at State Farm Center.
Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard caught fire on Thursday afternoon, combining for 44 points to propel the Dream to a decisive win. Now comes the hard part: a win-or-go-home tilt, one of precious few in league history.
Despite the comprehensive nature of Thursday’s beatdown, Golden State could take some positives from its performance — namely that it got 26 points from star Gabby Williams, 22 of which came in the second half.
The Sporting News is tracking live updates from Saturday’s Game 7. Follow below for highlights, analysis and more as the Dream and Valkyries meet one last time — this time, with the championship trophy in the building.

Dream vs. Valkyries highlights, results from WNBA Finals Game 7 of 2026 playoffs
(All times Eastern)
Second quarter
8:52 p.m.: AND-ONE! Canada shakes off Williams with the change of pace dribble . She then leans into the Valkyries standout before finishing through the contact! Her aggression has been paramount for Atlanta thus far. She’s up to a game-high nine points.
8:47 p.m.: After a shaky start to life, the Dream have gotten back into form in the second. They have outscored Golden State 9-0 in the second quarter. Canada is leading the way, attacking the cup with reckless abandon. The Valkyries look shell-shocked at present.
8:38 p.m.: Reese fires home from three! Atlanta has yet to lose when she find the target from distance! Valkyries fans, look away…

End of first quarter: Valkyries 14, Dream 12
8:32 p.m.: Burton puts it down! She has been the best player on the floor thus far, weaving into and out of the lane to find her target. Her latest basket puts her up to a game-high six points. Burton has drawn a little scrutiny for her unwillingness to put the ball up throughout the series. She is making sure she unloads the clip tonight.
That’s nasty VB 😮💨 Veronica Burton ends the 1Q strong for the Valks with the tuff fadeaway for her 6th point so far https://t.co/a2ujg43T7u

8:20 p.m.: The Valkyries have kicked off the game with an 8-0 run! Defense has been as lively as ever, while the offense has looked confident. Atlanta desperately needs a basket here.
8:12 p.m.: And we’re off! Game 7 is underway!
8:05 p.m.: We’re mere moments away from the start of tonight’s contest. Expect fireworks to erupt in this one.
7:50 p.m.: As for the Dream, no changes to the starting group. Reese, Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard will be pivotal to Atlanta’s pursuit of glory.

- Allisha Gray
- Rhyne Howard

7:37 p.m.: The Valkyries will trot out the same starting five they have used since Game 4. Here’s how they’ll look:
- Veronica Burton
- Tiffany Hayes
- Kaila Charles
- Gabby Williams
- Kiah Stokes
7:30 p.m.: No injury news to report from Ballhalla. Dream guard Te-Hina Paopao is available to play. The same can be said for Valkyries sparkplug Tiffany Hayes, who exited Game 6 early.
7:00 p.m: As for Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase, she is looking for intensity in the opening moments of Game 7. Golden State was caught by a Dream flurry in Atlanta. The Valkyries have no desire to have lightning strike twice.
Natalie Nakase: “(We’re) punching first. It’s a non-negotiable. We’re coming out with physicality, a focused mindset, a dictation. We’re dictating the first pass, we’re dictating everything tonight. Like we’re we’re gonna be super super aggressive.”

6:30 p.m.: Some strong praise for Angel Reese from Dream head coach Angel Reese ahead of Game 7. She has tailed off ever so slightly compared to her flourishes at the start of the series. But few can match her fervor when she’s at her best. If Atlanta wants any chance of lifting its first WNBA title, it will need Reese to be firing.

6:00 p.m.: Business as usual for many of the Dream’s stars, who are striding into Ballhalla with one thing on their mind: a title. In the words of D’Angelo, invoking A Tribe Called Quest in “The Line”: “Stakes is high.”

5:30 p.m.: While there will be plenty of drama present in tonight’s contest, the pregame offers an opportunity for some levity. Kaitlyn Chen is celebrating Halloween in the only way she knows how; by wearing a hot dog costume.
