Seven northern govs, others meet Muslim intellectuals in Jigawa

Seven northern governors, the Deputy President of the Senate and the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, are currently in a closed-door meeting with Muslim intellectuals from the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, in Dutse, Jigawa state Capital.

DAILY POST gathered that the meeting brings together Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa; Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, and Uba Sani of Kaduna.

Others are Dikko Radda of Katsina, alongside Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari.

The meeting also has in attendance senior government officials and representatives from across the northern states.

Details of the meeting cannot be ascertained at the time of filing this report as journalists were asked to leave the venue before the discussions began, and the agenda has not been made public.

The meeting came at a time when northern states are facing major concerns around security, economic development, education, agriculture and youth employment.
