Golden State Warriors fans were quick to praise rookie Yaxel Lendeborg after he produced a standout performance in the team’s 111-106 preseason win over the Sacramento Kings.
Lendeborg finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in just under 24 minutes while shooting 10-of-14 from the field. His performance came with Stephen Curry playing only 14 minutes as Golden State continues to manage its veteran star’s workload.
Curry still contributed eight points and two three-pointers but the Warriors’ depth ultimately carried them to victory. Brandon Williams added 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting while Gui Santos chipped in 15 points and six rebounds.
Golden State Warriors fans are already excited about Yaxel Lendeborg’s potential
Lendeborg’s performance quickly caught the attention of Warriors supporters, with several fans suggesting the rookie could become an important piece alongside Curry.
One fan simply wrote: “I’ve seen enough.” Another supporter was equally impressed: “We got a special one in Yaxel.”
“We got a future star!” a third fan chimed in. The excitement continued with another fan writing: “Yaxel, finally a good talent to help Steph and the Warriors.”
Lendeborg’s rise also drew praise from a supporter who highlighted his journey: “From an overlooked junior college prospect to an NCAA champion and NBA first-round pick, Yaxel Lendeborg’s rise is one of basketball’s most inspiring journeys!”
Another supporter celebrated the team’s wider performance: “The Warriors are cooking! Brandon Williams was efficient! 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting! Gui Santos and Podziemski also showed up! And Yaxel Lendeborg with the double-double! The rookies are making noise!”
That will be music to Kerr’s ears as Golden State prepares for a season where Curry’s minutes may need to be carefully managed. The rookie’s ability to create shots, attack the rim and contribute across several areas could give the Warriors another option when their veteran leader is off the floor.
