Sanwo-Olu appoints Badejo Ayodeji Olawumi as LASU new vice-chancellor

The transition will mark a change in the university’s leadership as Professor Badejo takes responsibility for the administration and academic direction of the institution.

Her appointment also comes at a time when universities in Nigeria continue to face increasing demands for effective academic leadership, quality teaching and learning, student welfare, research development and institutional growth.

As Vice-Chancellor, Professor Badejo will be expected to provide leadership for the university’s academic and administrative activities while working with members of the university community and other stakeholders.

Her academic specialisation in Guidance and Counselling could also provide a relevant background for addressing issues relating to students’ academic development, personal growth and overall educational experience.

Professor Badejo’s appointment makes her the next academic to lead LASU following the completion of Professor Olatunji-Bello’s five-year tenure.

Professor Olatunji-Bello’s departure will bring her five-year tenure to an end, paving the way for the new administration under Professor Badejo.

The change in leadership is expected to attract attention from students, academic staff, non-teaching staff, alumni and other stakeholders as LASU begins another chapter under its newly appointed Vice-Chancellor.
