Fernando Tatís Jr., Jake Cronenworth and Manny Machado hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to produce an early lead against pitcher Gerrit Cole and the Yankees. All three homers came before the Yankees recorded an out.

Cole managed to weather the storm and stay in the game for seven innings. He allowed six hits and four earned runs, while striking out three.

San Diego’s Luis Campusano hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning that proved to be the difference. The Yankees attempted to rally in the top of the eighth inning, scoring three runs.
