PSV have opened talks with NEC Nijmegen over a move for winger Sami Ouaissa, according to Voetbalzone, with the 21-year-old reportedly open to joining the Eredivisie champions.
The move would come just months after PSV signed fellow NEC player Kodai Sano, and it is not the only offer on the table for Ouaissa this window.
Voetbalzone reports the talks are moving slowly, partly because of lingering friction between the clubs over NEC’s earlier sale of Kodai Sano to PSV: NEC had agreed Sano would play both legs of an Olympiacos European qualifier before his transfer went through, but he refused to feature in Athens, souring relations between the two clubs.
Dutch outlets PSVFans and FCUpdate add that Feyenoord had already reached a personal agreement with Ouaissa earlier in the window, though that move is stalled until Feyenoord sell winger Anis Hadj Moussa, while Ligue 1 side Lille have also registered interest. Ouaissa is said to prefer staying in the Eredivisie if PSV can get a deal over the line.
Ouaissa, born in October 2004, has emerged as one of NEC’s most productive attackers, scoring six goals in 32 Eredivisie appearances last season after joining from Roda JC. His market value is estimated at around €8.5 million, and interest from PSV, Feyenoord and Lille within the same window reflects how highly his development has been rated over the past two seasons.
For NEC, a sale would represent another significant resale following Sano’s move to PSV, continuing a pattern of developing attacking talent and selling on to bigger domestic and European clubs. For PSV, landing Ouaissa ahead of Feyenoord would double as a squad boost and a direct blow to a rival chasing the same target.
Status: Talks are ongoing but described as difficult. PSV have opened discussions with NEC, Feyenoord’s interest remains on hold pending an outgoing sale of their own, and Lille are also in the picture, with no club yet close to an agreement.
