As expected, Danny Kanell and Dusty Dvoracek’s SiriusXM show ended its five-year run on Friday. But both college football personalities have the next step of their SiriusXM journey lined up.
On3’s Brett McMurphy reported Tuesday that SiriusXM College Sports Radio’s Dusty and Danny In The Morningwas ending this week. The move wasn’t due to any animosity, but rather a need for Dvoracek to have greater flexibility thanks to an increased role at ESPN.
“Bittersweet day,” Kanell wrote on X Friday. “Sad to see my guys [Dusty Dvoracek] moving on, but so grateful for the past 5 [years]. He’ll continue to crush it in the afternoons! Don’t think anyone knows the sacrifice he made to get up at 4:30am every day and consistently bring great energy.”
“Bittersweet day indeed, DK,” replied Dvorcek. “It was an awesome 5-year run, and I loved working with you, brother! I’m truly gonna miss you and the show, but I’m excited for the afternoons 12-3et on [SiriusXM College Sports] CH 84. The season can’t get here soon enough!”
Dvoracek will be moving to College Sports Today, which airs noon to 3 p.m, where he’ll host alongside Kris Budden, Nicole Auerbach, E.J. Manuel and Bobby Carpenter.
As for Kanell, he didn’t have to wait long to find out who his new dance partner is. Roy Philpott, who has hosted several shows on SiriusXM’s college channel, will be his new co-host come Monday. Philpott has been a play-by-play announcer at ESPN since 2016, calling college football and other sports as well as contributing to ESPN’s UFL coverage on ABC.

Dvoracek has been seeing his star continually rise in recent years as a college football broadcaster with the Worldwide Leader. He’s also become a fixture on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt. He’s become one of the top college football analysts at ESPN, where he even called a College Football Playoff game in 2024. Awful Announcing readers put him and Dave Pasch at No. 5 overall in our most recent college football rankings.
