Ronald Araujo joins training as Liverpool get two welcome injury boosts ahead of preseason finale

Jeremy Jacquet has rejoined Liverpool training ahead of a possible first appearance of the preseason calendar this weekend. The Reds are also anticipated to welcome back Curtis Jones following his recovery from a hip issue.

The Merseyside club faces Italian club Como 1907 in consecutive friendlies on Sunday, and Jacquet is positioning himself for involvement, having been absent from action throughout the summer so far.

The French defender received medical clearance when he arrived at the club in early last month, having undergone season-ending shoulder surgery in February, but the £60 million ($81 million) signing has been sidelined by an undisclosed concern since then, as per the Liverpool Echo.

Consequently, Jacquet missed out on the club’s preseason tour of the United States but is now set to make his unofficial bow against Cesc Fabregas‘s Serie A side.

It remains uncertain at this point, though, whether the 21-year-old will participate in the behind-closed-doors match earlier in the day or take the field in the ticketed Anfield encounter.

New acquisition Ronald Araujo also participated in his maiden session with his teammates since his loan transfer from Barcelona was finalized on Monday.

Liverpool hold the option to convert the loan into a permanent deal for £47.1 million ($63.6 million) next year and are covering all of the Uruguayan international‘s wages during his time on Merseyside.

Jones, who remains a transfer target for Inter, was also back in the mix having missed out on the weekend’s 3-2 defeat to AS Monaco with a minor hip ailment.

Alexis Mac Allister, who rejoined the squad earlier this week following his FIFA World Cup campaign with runners-up Argentina, was available for selection, alongside new signing Victor Munoz, who experienced Anfield for the first time during the loss to Monaco.
