Richarlison is expected to leave Tottenham in January after a breakdown in his relationship with the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on the Men in Blazers podcast, Romano said Tottenham has no intention of bringing the Brazil international back into its plans and expects the two sides to part company in the coming months.
“I think around January we will see Richarlison leaving Tottenham,” he said.
Romano explained that a potential return to Everton had been linked to Tottenham’s pursuit of Iliman Ndiaye. Richarlison decided against the move, leaving the proposed transfers unresolved.
A subsequent approach from Trabzonspor was acceptable to the player but rejected by Tottenham. Talks with Vasco da Gama also failed to produce a move, extending a difficult summer for the 29-year-old.
Richarlison’s proposed return to Brazil collapsed in September after discussions over personal terms stalled. He had already been omitted from Tottenham’s Premier League squad following his attempts to secure a departure.
Roberto De Zerbi has said he tried to persuade the forward to stay and proposed a contract extension at the beginning of the season. The coach later confirmed that Richarlison would remain out of his plans for the EFL Cup, having been an unused substitute against Charlton Athletic.
The forward’s existing deal expires in June 2027. He signed that agreement when he joined Tottenham from Everton in July 2022, following four seasons on Merseyside and an earlier spell with Watford.
His time in north London also included Tottenham’s Europa League triumph in 2025, when he featured in the semifinal against Bodø/Glimt and the final against Manchester United in Bilbao.
He finished the 2025/26 campaign with 12 goals in 43 appearances for Tottenham, including 11 in the Premier League. His contribution included a headed goal in the 2-1 win at Aston Villa in May, while his appearance total was his highest in a season for the club.
