Road collapse cuts off Taraba communities

The collapse of the Zagah–Suntai road has cut off several communities in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The Zagah–Suntai road, which connects rural communities to other parts of the state, became impassable after a section that had earlier deteriorated finally collapsed.

Locals have lamented that the incident has disrupted the movement of people and goods and limited access to essential services, including healthcare, education and markets.

Residents, especially community leaders,  three weeks ago reportedly pleaded with the state government to intervene after the road first showed signs of failure.

Meanwhile, the communities affected have renewed their calls for urgent government action to restore access and prevent further hardship.
