Henri Camara believes Sadio Mané deserved a much better ending to his Liverpool career and also feels the forward’s difficult spell at Bayern Munich should be viewed with far more context than it often is.

Reflecting on Mané’s departure from Anfield, Camara made it clear he was disappointed with how one of Liverpool’s modern greats was treated.

“For everything good Mané did at Liverpool, I don’t think the way he left was right. I didn’t like it. They didn’t send him off the way they did for others, like Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. Mané deserved more respect because he gave so much to Liverpool. If you look at Liverpool over the last five years, he was a big part of why they won so many trophies. He didn’t always score the goals himself, but he created them, and he gave everything for the team. I didn’t like how Liverpool let him go,” Camara told Parimatch UK Sportsbook.

Camara’s comments reflect a sentiment shared by many Liverpool supporters who still view Mané as one of the club’s defining players of the Jürgen Klopp era. While Mohamed Salah often grabbed the headlines, Mané’s relentless work rate, versatility, and knack for delivering in the biggest matches helped Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Camara also defended Mané’s lone season at Bayern Munich, arguing that injuries played a much larger role than many people acknowledge.

“He was injured. He played a year there but it didn’t go well. Everyone knew he was carrying an injury. He only had that one season, so you can’t really judge him on it,” Camara said.

There is no denying that Mané’s time at Bayern Munich fell well below expectations. Injuries, inconsistent form, and an infamous altercation with Leroy Sané overshadowed what was expected to be one of the Bundesliga’s marquee signings. Still, Camara believes it is unfair to define Mané’s legacy by one difficult campaign. Instead, he sees a player whose overall body of work—particularly at Liverpool—deserves far greater appreciation than criticism.
