Ranking Colorado football’s six 2026 home game by difficulty

Colorado football has to squeeze every possible win out of its home games in 2026, especially after a 2025 season that left little margin for error and ended with a 3-9 record.

Deion Sanders’ team will face five Big 12 opponents at Folsom Field in addition to one nonconference matchup. Stacking up home victories usually leads to a winning season.

We’ve ranked Colorado’s six home games from easiest to toughest.

Weber State is the easiest game on the schedule, and Colorado needs to make the most of it. A strong performance would give the Buffs early confidence and help them build momentum before the conference gets serious.

UCF should be more beatable than the teams above it, but Scott Frost’s group still has enough talent to make this a dangerous matchup late in the year. If Colorado football is fighting for bowl eligibility, this is the kind of home game they cannot afford to let slip away.

Kansas State is one of the Big 12’s more reliable programs, and Avery Johnson‘s return makes the Wildcats even tougher. Colorado will need a disciplined defensive plan to keep Johnson from taking over with his legs in this mid-season Halloween matchup.

Houston is not an easy mid-season visit, especially with Willie Fritz building momentum and Connor Weigman back at quarterback. By November, this game could be a major test of whether Colorado football is still fresh enough to handle a polished Big 12 team like the Cougars.

Utah is the kind of opponent that has given Colorado problems before, especially last season after a 53-7 drubbing. Even with Morgan Scalley taking over as head coach, the Utes still profile as one of the hardest physical matchups on the slate. Although the last time the Utes came to Folsom, it may be one of the most memorable games in Colorado history.

Texas Tech looks like the most difficult home game on Colorado’s schedule. The Red Raiders are coming off a College Football Playoff run, and with their quarterback situation settled cleanly with the return of Brendan Sorsby, they could bring one of the league’s most complete teams into Boulder.
