As the Rangers make a playoff push to October, this former player would give his thoughts on the job security of president of baseball operations Chris Young.
Young has been with Texas since 2020, building the ball club to be a competitive team, which culminated in winning the franchise’s first World Series in 2023. But in the years that followed, the Rangers went 78-84 in 2024 and 81-81 in 2025.
With the team going through more disappointment currently, though a postseason berth is possible, former player A.J. Pierzynski would say on “Foul Territory” that Young “at least gets a couple more years.” He would emphasize that the Rangers have dealt with injury issues, and with them still being in the playoff race, Young will get more time.

“It’s only been three years since they won. They’re in the playoff race. They’ve had injuries,” Pierzynski said. “They lost their TV deal. They weren’t able to make that money. So I think he’s going to get at least another two years. And I don’t think Chris Young is in danger this year of losing his job at all, I think he’s safe. They made some good moves, they’re in the playoff race. Now, can the players perform? That’s what it’s going to come down to for me.”
It’s been a rough go for the Rangers since winning the World Series in 2023, but @AJPierzynski12 doesn’t think Chris Young’s job is in question.

A look at the Rangers this season
Also citing the moves the Rangers have made recently, like acquiring Brandon Nimmo in the offseason and pairing that with other stars such as Joc Pederson, Corey Seager, Jacob deGrom, MacKenzie Gore, and others, Pierzynski is not panicking on the team.
It remains to be seen what Young’s job security looks like as Texas is 72-74 before Thursday’s game, putting them second in the AL West, two-and-a-half games back of the 75-72 Houston Astros. They’re also 1.5 games back of a wild-card spot in the AL.
