Michigan basketball’s roster continues to hold firm despite the departure of national championship-winning head coach Dusty May.
According to Rivals’ Joe Tipton, freshman forward Quinn Costello has announced that he is staying with the Wolverines rather than exploring other options following May’s move to the NBA.
“Michigan freshman Quinn Costello is staying at Michigan despite Dusty May’s departure,” Tipton reported.
Another Elite Recruit Stays Home
Costello is one of the top prospects in Michigan’s highly touted 2026 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-10 power forward is ranked as the No. 23 overall recruit in the 2026 class, according to Rivals, making him one of the highest-rated incoming players on Michigan’s roster.
His decision represents another significant victory for interim head coach Mike Boynton, who has worked quickly to keep the Wolverines’ roster together following May’s departure to become head coach of the Dallas Mavericks.

Costello is the latest Wolverine to publicly reaffirm his commitment to the program.
