Prediction: Tottenham vs Newcastle

Two camps who will turn their attention back to Premier League duties on Saturday evening, Tottenham will welcome Newcastle to north London.

With a stacked Premier League schedule pencilled in this weekend, there are plenty of eye-catching betting promotions available.

Tottenham

Starting with the hosts, while Tottenham might have extended on their EFL Cup adventure on Wednesday night as they cruised their way to a routine 5-1 romp at home against Championship outfit Charlton, Robert De Zerbi’s men opened up the 2026/27 campaign with a nightmare performance across the capital. Coming under a huge amount of scrutiny last weekend as they were blown away against local rivals Brentford following a 3-0 drumming in west London, Spurs will be desperate to put a maiden Premier League victory on the board here. However, only just dragging themselves across the finishing line back in May as they clung to their top-flight status, Tottenham have shown some glaring issues on either side of the summer interval. Likewise, De Zerbi’s side also slumped to a 2-1 defeat when they last welcomed Newcastle to north London back on February 10th.

All still dealing with respective injury issues, Tottenham will once again be without the likes of Mohamed Kudus, Wilson Odobert, Dejan Kulusevski and Dutch international Xavi Simons this weekend.

However, finding the net against Charlton on Wednesday night on what was his Spurs debut, new recruit and ex-Manchester City star Savinho will feature in north London. Completing a controversial big-money switch from Newcastle this summer, Sandro Tonali will line up against his former teammates on Saturday evening.

Newcastle

As for the visitors, suffering last-gasp heartbreak at home against Liverpool last weekend as they were eventually forced to settle for a thrilling 2-2 stalemate, Newcastle find themselves in a similar position to Saturday’s opponents. Mounting an EFL Cup comeback earlier in the week as they clinched a rollercoaster 3-2 win against Championship outfit West Brom, the Magpies are getting a new era underway at St. James’ Park. Now under the guidance of Matthias Jaissle, the former Al-Ahli boss has some real expectations on his shoulders. Landing that 2-1 victory when they last travelled to north London back in February, Newcastle hold a dominant recent record against Spurs. In fact, Saturday’s guests are unbeaten in all of their previous six straight showdowns against the Lilywhites across all competitions (five wins, one draw).

Both still recovering from respective injury issues, Newcastle will travel to north London this weekend without the duo of Timo Livramento and Brazilian international Joelinton.

Completing a permanent switch from Manchester City this week, new recruit Nico Gonzalez looks set to make his Newcastle debut on Saturday evening. Likewise, fellow new recruit and former Braga shot-stopper Lukas Hornicek will start between the sticks here.

Tottenham vs Newcastle Key Factors to Consider

  • When Tottenham and Newcastle last met for a Premier League showdown back on February 10th, the Magpies claimed a 2-1 victory in north London.
  • In fact, Newcastle are unbeaten in all of their previous six competitive matchups against Spurs across all competitions (five wins, one draw).
  • Tottenham’s first two competitive matchups over the past week have produced nine goals at both ends of the pitch.
  • Continuing on from last season, Newcastle have failed to muster a single clean sheet from any of their previous 11 competitive matchups across all fronts.
  • Each of the last four Premier League showdowns between Tottenham and Newcastle have finished with both teams finding the net.

Landing a 2-1 victory when they last travelled to north London back in February, Newcastle hold a sensational recent record against Saturday’s opponents. Unbeaten in all of their previous six consecutive battles across all fronts, we could be treated to another top-flight thriller this weekend. Two camps who have shown their own respective defensive issues on either side of the summer break, chances could come thick and fast from the English capital. It should also be highlighted, each of the last four Premier League showdowns between Tottenham and Newcastle have finished with both teams finding the net.
