Kebbi State Police Command has said joint security forces repelled two successive attacks by suspected bandits on Ribah community in Zuru Local Government Area of the state.
The attacks occurred on Friday, October 30, 2026, with the first incident reported at about 7:25 p.m., according to the police.
The police spokesperson, in a statement, said the assailants initially attempted to block Rambo Junction along the Ribah–Dirin Daji Road but were intercepted by a joint team of police officers, military personnel and local vigilantes.
He said the security operatives engaged the attackers in a gun duel and forced them to flee.
The statement added that the assailants later regrouped and returned, firing sporadically from different directions within the community.
During the ensuing exchange of gunfire, a 47-year-old security guard, Hassan Boder, was fatally hit by a bullet at a newly constructed filling station along the Ribah–Kanya Road.
The police said the joint security team responded to a distress call, engaged the attackers and successfully repelled the second assault.
The command added that security operations had been intensified, with patrols ongoing to prevent further attacks and track down those responsible.
