Borno State Police Command said its operatives have recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla LE containing valuable items worth millions of naira and arrested a 42-year-old suspect, Muhammed Bukar.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
According to the statement, the breakthrough followed a complaint by a pharmacist, Abdulwahab Muhammed, who reported that on October 16, 2026, at about 1:25 pm, he parked his Toyota Corolla LE along Muna Road, Maiduguri, to observe prayers.

Daso said the vehicle contained “One Redmi tablet, cash sum of ₦230,000, cash sum of $200, assorted pharmaceutical products valued at approximately ₦3.3 million and one ATM card.”
He stated that upon returning from prayers, the complainant discovered that the vehicle had been taken away by an unknown person.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, directed operatives of the Violence Crime Response Unit (Crack Squad) to immediately commence a thorough investigation into the incident,” Daso said.
He added that acting on the directive, operatives of the Crack Squad embarked on an intensive investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect who was found in possession of the stolen vehicle and its contents.

“During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed that he used another key to open the vehicle before taking it away from the scene.
“The recovered vehicle and other exhibits are in custody as investigations continue,” the statement quoted Daso as saying.
The Commissioner reassured members of the public of the Command’s commitment to crime prevention and protection of lives and property, while urging residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the police via 0806 807 5581 and 0802 347 3293.
