Police arrest 10 suspects, recover cash, cattle, vehicles in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects and recovered two motor vehicles, six cows, a motorcycle, a sheep, counterfeit US dollars and N1.1 million in a series of operations across the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
He said the operations were conducted in Taura, Malam Madori, Hadejia, Birniwa, Kirikasamma and Kaugama local government areas following credible intelligence, prompt reports and routine patrols.

Other items recovered included a mobile phone and vandalised electric cables. The operations were carried out by police operatives in collaboration with a vigilante group.

Among those arrested were Muntari Ibrahim, 25, of Gidan Naruwa Settlement in Taura; Bura Manu, 35; Basiru Abubakar, 27, of Gashua, Yobe State; Hussaini Umar, 24, of Potiskum, Yobe State; Ismail Abdullahi, alias Audun Balliya, 41, of Buraburun, Nguru, Yobe State; Sadik Mahmud, 19, of Kaugama; Buhari Yusuf, alias Manjo; Usman Ahmad, 35, of Hadejia; Muhammed Abdu, 40; and Muhammad Buba, 35, of Zagari Village.

The police alleged that Hussaini Umar defrauded a victim of N2.661 million under the pretext of supplying US dollars. He was also accused of sending a fake credit alert of N23.57 million to the victim’s account.

The command said investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest other fleeing members of the various criminal groups involved. The suspects are expected to be charged before a court after the completion of investigations.
