Thibaut Courtois: 6. Three goals conceded and just three completed long balls from 18 attempts look ugly on paper, but how much of that was his fault? Real Madrid’s mistakes exposed him defensively, while the lack of passing outlets left him with few options in possession. He made four saves, a couple routine and a couple more demanding.
Denzel Dumfries: 3. Frequently caught out of position, uncomfortable under pressure, and unable to offer anything meaningful going forward. A difficult night on both sides of the ball.
Ibrahima Konaté: 6. A lot of Real Madrid’s build-up went through him, with his passing ranging from sharp to occasionally very poor. The midfielders ahead of him did not help enough, too often hiding rather than offering an outlet. He looked more comfortable once Bernardo Silva and Arda Güler entered the game.
Antonio Rüdiger: 8. Scored the winner and finished with a game-high seven clearances. A decisive contribution at one end and an important presence at the other.
Marc Cucurella: 5. Struggled to manage the overloads created by Soulé, Mancini, and Dybala, often with little support. Also missed a big first-half chance when squaring the ball to Mbappé looked like the better option.
Fede Valverde: 6.5. Real Madrid needed him to take greater control in the first half, but he did not make himself available consistently enough to help the team play through pressure. Once again, he looked much better after Mourinho moved him to right-back in the second half.
Aurélien Tchouaméni: 5. Careless in possession at times and unable to provide Cucurella with the defensive support he needed. Did not do enough to stabilize the team.
Yan Diomande: 7.5. Came alive after moving to the left in the second half. Finished with an assist and led the game in both completed dribbles (six) and interceptions (five), contributing with his ability to beat defenders and win possession back.
Jude Bellingham: 5. Had some good moments on the ball and worked to press, track runners, and organize those around him defensively. Still, he could not impose his usual influence on the game.
Vinícius Júnior: 2. A wildly inefficient performance. His careless flick in midfield led to Roma’s second goal and left Mourinho furious on the touchline.
Kylian Mbappé: 6. Scored an important goal and found better spaces in the second half. His touch let him down considerably before the break, though, limiting what he could do with the opportunities that came his way.
Endrick: 8.5. A game-changing performance off the bench. His runs down the right gave Real Madrid a completely different attacking dynamic, and his headed goal was particularly impressive given that he was one of the shortest players on the pitch. Earned the official Man of the Match award.
Arda Güler: 8. Immediately brought composure and intelligence to Real Madrid’s build-up. Finished with two assists and delivered excellent set pieces, giving the team both greater control and a reliable source of danger.
Bernardo Silva: 7. Brought the composure, ball retention, and defensive coverage Real Madrid had been missing. Helped make the team more secure in possession and better connected without it.
Álvaro Carreras: 6.5. A quiet appearance with just four passes. Mostly held his position around the halfway line, providing cover to limit Roma’s opportunities to break.
Carlos Espí: 7.5. Got the comeback rolling with a goal. Continues to give Real Madrid exactly what they need off the bench.
