Plateau shuts schools over suspected diphtheria outbreak

The government said the temporary closure was an urgent preventive measure aimed at containing the suspected outbreak and protecting pupils, students, teaching and non-teaching staff from possible transmission of the infection.

Government Orders Full Compliance

School proprietors, administrators and teachers have been directed to comply fully with the closure order, while parents and guardians have been advised to ensure that their children and wards remain safely at home throughout the period.

The government appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate with the directive, stressing that the decision was taken in the interest of public health and to prevent further spread of the suspected infection.

The state government also said it would continue to monitor the situation and take necessary measures as efforts to contain the suspected outbreak progress.

It added that further information regarding the resumption of academic activities would be communicated to the public in due course.
