Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes is starting against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t have a little fun on Monday’s off day.
Skenes was driving by the Ingomar Franklin Park Little League fields on Monday night and saw the lights on. On a whim, he decided to pull in.
Skenes spent the next two hours with local Little Leaguers, signing balls, taking pictures and playing catch with them.

It was not a coordinated event by the Pirates. Skenes simply did it on his own in the spur of the moment.
His girlfriend, Livvy Dunne, posted about the heartwarming moment on her Instagram story after the fact.
Skenes didn’t have to do that, of course. He’s a busy guy, and many pitchers like to be by themselves the night before a start so they can focus and prepare, especially against a tough team like the Dodgers.
Not Skenes. The 24-year-old righty is still a big kid in many ways, and on Monday, he gave those kids some special memories they will never forget.
