Peter Obi breaks silence as wife’s alleged N250m bag sparks outrage

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has broken his silence over his wife’s alleged N250 million Hermès bag.

Speaking during an interview in Washington, DC, USA, Obi said his wife, Margaret, has her own business.

Recall that the luxury handbag reportedly carried by Obi’s wife has sparked a fresh debate over the politician’s public image of prudence.

Reacting, however, the former Anambra State governor said his wife used to be far more sophisticated before he became governor.

Obi added that he has no issue with what his wife does with her money, provided she is living her life without interfering with his management of public funds.

The presidential candidate further stated that he never had an office of the First Lady as governor, stressing that he does not celebrate his own birthday but does not stop people from celebrating.

“My wife has her own business and her own money, so what is my business if she buys expensive items with her money?

“The bags and shoes my wife wears, I don’t even know how much they cost. In fact, she is actually a bit less sophisticated now,” Obi said.
