Penn State in battle with Buckeyes for three star RB

As the 2026-27 college football season gets into full swing, there are still several key recruits Penn State is keeping on the radar. After all, this could be a unique chance to bolster their class ahead of next season. Unfortunately, for this particular recruit, they will have to do battle with one of their fiercest Big Ten rivals on both the recruiting trail and on the field.

Jordan Hall is a current three-star running back from Ohio who recently chose to decommit from Miami(Ohio). As a result, the usual programs have come calling, particularly Ohio State. However, Penn State had thrown their hat into the ring before Hall had announced that he would be visiting the Buckeyes this weekend. This battle is particularly interesting considering both have had rough times recruiting RBs this offseason. While Ohio State failed to sign 5-star David Gabriel Georges, as he went for more NIL money to Tennessee, Penn State suffered an agonizing flip, when 4-star Aiden Gibson reclassified and flipped to Rutgers.

For the Nittany Lions, this is much more important, seeing as they only have one running back in their 2027 class. Still, Penn State may have to take a more cautious approach here than they usually would. Discovering a talent such as this is great, but the entire coaching staff must remember they’re not at Iowa State anymore. Hall will most likely end up with the Buckeyes, but for Penn State, the lesson learned will be more about program prestige rather than winning on the recruiting trail.
