The number 10 top was worn by the then 17-year-old during Brazil’s 5-2 win over Sweden, during which Pele became the youngest player to score in a World Cup final – a record that still stands.

Sotheby’s said the sale made Pele’s jersey the second most valuable football shirt ever sold after Diego Maradona’s 1986 top, worn against England when he scored his famous “Hand of God” goal.

It sold in 2022 for $9.3 million.
