He explained that his role was to investigate and address the matter after taking office, adding that the board documented the account because it was difficult to believe.

According to him, there was never any evidence of a snake swallowing money, noting that the story was later sensationalised and widely misunderstood by the public.

Oloyede also dismissed suggestions that universities can legally admit undergraduate students outside the JAMB admission process.

He maintained that, under existing laws and regulations, all admissions into undergraduate programmes must be processed through JAMB, adding that any institution that bypasses the procedure acts illegally.

Oloyede served as JAMB registrar from August 2016 until July 31, 2026.

During his tenure, the board expanded the use of technology to strengthen the integrity of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), uncovered several examination malpractice syndicates involving impersonation and result manipulation, and repeatedly cautioned parents against aiding candidates to cheat during public examinations.
