The Green Bay Packers appeared to depart Denver without a major injury, but there were several injury updates coming out of Friday night’s 33-13 win over the Broncos.
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, five players are dealing with new injuries coming out of the preseason victory, and receiver Jayden Reed did not suit up against the Broncos due to a personal matter.
The injury updates from Schneidman:
— CB Brandon Cisse injured his knee on a special teams play, but his exit from the game after six snaps was “precautionary.” Cisse said as much following the game on Friday night.
— DL Warren Brinson, who did not play in the game, injured his calf during warmups. The injury is described as a tweak. An injury pre-game is a helpful explanation for why an important young player did not see the field against the Broncos.
— WR Savion Williams injured his ankle, explaining why he only got a handful of snaps in Denver. Williams dealt with a nagging ankle injury for much of his rookie season, so this is one to monitor.
— EDGE Collin Oliver has a new calf injury. He played only six snaps. Oliver only played in one game as a rookie, and he’s competing for snaps at an important position.
— WR J. Michael Sturdivant was evaluated for a concussion. He looked wobbly after getting up from a catch and ended up playing only nine snaps. Any missed time will be tough for a rookie who is competing for one of the last spots on the roster.
The Packers don’t practice again until Monday. Coach Matt LaFleur is expected to speak before practice, creating an opportunity to provide additional injury information.
