DURHAM — Oyster River High School junior midfielder Demetrius Tsakiris was voted by the community as 2026 Seacoast high school boys lacrosse Player of the Year.
Tsakiris won the online poll by receiving over 31.92% of the votes. Dover senior Cooper Ketcham finished second with 23.26% of the votes.
Portsmouth junior Sam Biddle (12.4%), Marshwood senior Hayden Demeroto (10.21%) and Spaulding junior Jackson Shapleigh (6.43%) placed third through fifth, respectively.
Tsakiris was a Division II first team All-State selection this season, helping Oyster River to the Division II semifinal game – a 16-7 loss to Winnacunnet.
“(Tsakiris) has earned (this award),” Oyster River head coach Brendan McKenna said. “He’s obviously very talented but he also busts his tail. He does whatever the team needs to win and can play any position.”
Tsakiris, a team captain and National Honor Society member, finished the season with 31 goals and 19 assists, reaching 100 career points.
“Beyond happy to see him recognized for his effort,” McKenna said.
