Shortly after taking his official visit to Eugene, three-star tight end oregon-visit-205438404.html">George VanSandt has locked in his commitment to the Oregon Ducks. The Portland standout chose to stay home over offers from Arkansas, Texas A&M and Tulane.
VanSandt, who stars at Central Catholic High School, came up on Oregon’s radar recently. The ducks/3465/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Ducks extended him an offer early in May. Soon after, VanSandt decommitted from Arkansas and scheduled a trip to Eugene. With the official visit in the books, he’s now committed to suiting up for the Ducks. It was clear that VanSandt wanted to be a Duck. It was just a matter of getting the offer.
VanSandt is the No. 2 player in Oregon and the top offensive player. The Ducks already have the top player in the state in West Linn corner Josiah Molden. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end from Portland has great hands and can block, which goes a long way with Oregon offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer and tight ends coach Jack Smith.
Oregon has become something of a tight end hotspot in recent years. With Terrance Ferguson and Kenyon Sadiq both going to the NFL in consecutive years, and Jamari Johnson looking to continue the trend, the Ducks have recruited some of the nation’s best talents along the line.
Kendre Harrison was the top tight end in the 2026 recruiting class, coming to the Ducks from North Carolina, and Oregon also added Penn State transfer Andrew Olesh this offseason.
It could be tough for VanSandt to jump them on the depth chart, but Oregon has traditionally used three tight ends at a time, giving the Portland product a chance to impact the roster quickly.
VanSandt is the second commitment of the day for the Ducks, joining wideout Malachi Garlington, who also visited this weekend and flipped his commitment from Washington State. Oregon still has the No. 9 recruiting class in the nation, per Rivals.
