Ondo Police declares vehicular, waterway restrictions for by-election

The Ondo Police Command on Friday disclosed the restriction of vehicular movement as well as that of waterways in Ondo South Senatorial Election ahead of Saturday’s by-election in the state.

While emphasising that the restriction will commence on Saturday between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, the command said that police operatives have been deployed to ensure security during the exercise.

In a statement issued by the police Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, those on essential services will be exempted from the restriction.

According to the spokesperson of the command, unauthorized movement or any activity capable of disrupting the electoral process will not be tolerated, stressing that strict enforcement will be ensured.

“The Commissioner of Police further cautions political actors, their supporters, and members of the public against acts of violence, voter intimidation, vote-buying, thuggery, or any other conduct capable of undermining the integrity of the electoral process.

“Anyone found violating electoral laws or engaging in activities likely to cause a breach of peace will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The CP reassures residents that the Command has intensified intelligence gathering, visibility policing, strategic patrols, and coordinated operations with other security agencies to ensure a secure environment before, during, and after the election.”
