Oklahoma Sooners get the best feedback possible from another elite prospect who would be a huge get in their 2027 class

The Oklahoma Sooners don’t really need any more offensive linemen in their 2027 recruiting class, but why not get another one?

The Oklahoma Sooners just finished up a ton of visits over the last weekend. One of their recent visitors was three-star offensive tackle Corey Laga from the 2027 recruiting class. As a three-star, he’s still highly coveted, and the Illinois OT had a lot to say about his visit.

“Visit was amazing!” Laga told Rivals. “The hospitality and attention I was shown there showed me that I am a priority, and that means a lot. Coach (Bill) Bedenbough really excited me with his development of players and the program as a whole. Coach Venables is all about football and winning, but also wants the best for the players.”

Laga is a Lemont High OT, but a player with the size to slide into the interior at 6’5, 260. The Sooners, if they did have a need at offensive line in this class, need more interior players. They currently have three interior guys committed or who could play interior, and two tackles. One of those tackles is maybe the best in the country: Cooper Hackett. Kaeden Penny is listed as a tackle, but he’ll play inside because he’s only 6’4.

It sounds like he’s very interested in being a Sooner after his initial visit. They have more visits coming up soon, too. This is usually when some of the recruits in the upcoming class really get to see what they’re getting themselves into.

For the Sooners, their visits are where they really make their money. In other words, they have been known as a team to host spectacular visits that make recruits commit either on the spot or that same weekend. We saw that with Utah defensive lineman Uhila Wolfgramm. Maybe they did the same for Laga.
